LinguaFive vowels that never change
Spanish is written with the Latin alphabet, and it is one of the easiest languages in the world to READ, for one reason: a e i o u have one sound each, always, in every word. Learn those five and you can already say most of what you see. Start with the first six letters.
Two slanted strokes and a bar for the capital; a circle and a line for the small one. The sound is always the open a of casa.
Three bars on a post for the capital, one curling stroke for the small one. Always the e of mesa.
A single line, with a dot in the small shape. Always the i of sí, never the ai of English.
The line down first, then the bellies. It sounds exactly like the letter v – the two are the same sound in Spanish.
C before a, o, u is a hard k; before e and i it softens. D is the line and one wide belly.
Capital F: the post down, then the top bar and the middle bar – an E without its foot. Small f: a tall hook with a little bar across it. One sound, always.
