Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

• Account details. Your email address, display name, chosen native and learning languages, and a securely hashed password (or, if you use Google or Apple sign-in, the identifier those providers return). We never store your third-party password.
• Pairing data.The link between you and your partner’s account, created when one of you redeems an invite code, so we can share progress and couples features between the two paired accounts.
• Learning activity. Lessons, vocabulary, saved words, streaks, XP, game results, and translations you create in the app, so we can track progress and power spaced-repetition review.
• Content you upload. Subtitle files and similar material you submit to features such as Films, used to generate your personalised word lists.
• Billing data. If you subscribe to Premium, payments are processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We receive your subscription status and an internal customer reference; we never receive or store your full card number.
• Technical data. Basic device, log, and diagnostic information needed to keep the service secure and reliable.

2. How we use your data

• To provide, personalise, and improve the LinguaPair experience.
• To sync progress and features between you and your paired partner.
• To process subscriptions and prevent fraud or abuse.
• To send you essential service messages (for example, sign-in codes).
• To keep the service safe, debug problems, and meet legal obligations.

3. Sharing

We share data only with service providers who help us operate LinguaPair (such as hosting, payment, and authentication providers), and only as needed to deliver the service. Your learning progress is shared with the partner you explicitly pair with. We may disclose information if required by law. We do not sell your personal data.

4. Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account we remove your personal data, subject to a short period for backups and any records we must keep for legal or accounting reasons.

5. Your rights & deleting your account

You can access and update your profile at any time under Account → Settings. You can permanently delete your account and associated personal data directly in the app: go to Account → Settings → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and irreversible; it also unlinks you from your partner. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, export, or restrict the processing of your data — contact us to exercise them.

6. Children

LinguaPair is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their data.

7. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above and, where appropriate, communicated in the app.
