The English alphabet
English has 26 letters from A to Z. In this lesson, you learn the names of the letters and how to spell words and names aloud.

How to spell a name
To give your name clearly, say each letter name one by one. We often ask How do you spell that? or Can you spell it, please?
Anna: A-N-N-A.
My name is Ben. B-E-N.
Important letter-name surprises
Some English letter names are surprising. Pay special attention to H, J, G, W, and Y because their names may be different from the sounds you expect.

Classroom words you will hear
In class you hear a few short instructions again and again: listen, write, repeat and spell. If a letter goes by too fast, ask for it again.
