One rule, three families
Every verb and adjective in this unit obeyed the vowel rule: ㅏ or ㅗ in the stem takes 아요, anything else takes 어요, and 하다 alone becomes 해요. The three families were the plain verbs (먹어요, 가요, 마셔요), the 하다 verbs (공부해요, 일해요) and the adjectives (좋아요, 비싸요, 맛있어요). The particles sorted themselves by the verb: an object takes 을/를, the place of an action 에서, the destination of 가다 and 오다 에, and the subject of an adjective 이/가.
A day in five sentences
With this unit you can narrate: 아침에 빵을 먹어요. 회사에 가요. 회사에서 일해요. 저녁에 친구를 만나요. 한국어가 재미있어요. Five sentences, three particles, one ending. The next unit adds the times of day and the two negations, and your day becomes a real day.
