а б в г д е ё ж з и й к л м н о п р с т у ф х ц ч ш щ ъ ы ь э ю я. Thirty-three: ten vowels, twenty-one consonants and two signs that make no sound. That is the whole system, and from here on nothing in Russian is unreadable – only unknown, which is a different problem and a much easier one.
The first four, in order. Say the sound of each as your finger draws it.
And the last four. The first of them is the silent one.
