LinguaThe end of the alphabet
t u v w x y z finishes the Spanish alphabet. W is a guest: it appears only in words taken from other languages. Z is the same sound as the soft c – in most of Latin America a plain s, in most of Spain the th of think. Both pronunciations are correct; they simply belong to different places.
T is a post with a bar; the bar comes second. U is a bowl with a line on its right side.
V is two straight strokes meeting at a point. Z is three: across, down to the left, across again.
W is two v shapes in a row and it is Spanish's guest letter. X is two crossing strokes, and between vowels it sounds ks.
Two short strokes meeting, then a long one below the line. It is a consonant at the start of a word and a vowel alone.
