There is, there are

우리는 there is와 there are를 어떤 장소에 무엇이 있는지 말할 때 사용합니다. there is는 한 개일 때 쓰고, there are는 두 개 이상일 때 씁니다. 이 레슨에서는 집 안의 방들을 설명하는 방법을 배웁니다.

There are two bedrooms in the flat.아파트에 침실이 두 개 있어요.

there is 뒤에는 보통 하나를 말할 때 a 또는 an을 함께 씁니다: There is a bedroom. there are 뒤에는 보통 숫자나 복수 명사를 씁니다: There are four rooms.

무언가가 존재하지 않는다고 말할 때는 하나일 경우 there isn't, 둘 이상일 경우 there aren't를 사용합니다. 이것들은 일상 영어에서 아주 짧고 자주 쓰이는 표현입니다.

There isn't a bathroom upstairs.위층에는 욕실이 없어요.

There aren't three bedrooms in this flat.이 아파트에는 침실이 세 개 없어요.

하나에 대해 물을 때는 Is there ...?를 사용합니다. 둘 이상에 대해 물을 때는 Are there ...?를 사용합니다. 보통 Yes, there is/are 또는 No, there isn't/aren't로 대답합니다.
