There is / There are
We use there is and there are to say what exists in a place. Use there is with one thing, and there are with two or more things. This lesson helps you describe rooms in a home.
There is a kitchen in the house.
There are two bedrooms in the flat.
Singular and plural

After there is, we often use a or an with one thing: There is a bedroom. After there are, we often use a number or a plural noun: There are four rooms.
Negative forms
To say something does not exist, use there isn't for one thing and there aren't for more than one thing. These are short, common forms in everyday English.
There isn't a bathroom upstairs.
There aren't three bedrooms in this flat.
Questions
To ask about one thing, use Is there ...? To ask about two or more things, use Are there ...? We often answer with Yes, there is/are or No, there isn't/aren't.
Is there a kitchen?
