To ask the way, put أَيْنَ before the place with الـ: أَيْنَ الْفُنْدُقُ؟ – “where is the hotel?”. Near is قَرِيبٌ مِنْ, far is بَعِيدٌ عَنْ – each adjective has its own little word, and the place after it ends in -i.
أَيْنَ الْفُنْدُقُ؟ – الْفُنْدُقُ قَرِيبٌ مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ.Where is the hotel? – The hotel is near the mosque.
Before الـ, مِنْ becomes مِنَ and عَنْ becomes عَنِ, just to link the sounds: مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ, عَنِ الْمَحَطَّةِ. A feminine place takes a feminine adjective: الصَّيْدَلِيَّةُ قَرِيبَةٌ.
الْمُتْحَفُ بَعِيدٌ عَنِ الْمَحَطَّةِ.The museum is far from the station.
