Use family words to talk about people in your family. Important words in this unit are mother, father, sister, brother, grandmother, grandfather, parents, and children. You can also ask about family with How many ... have you got?
I have got one brother and two sisters.
Describing people
Use be + adjective to describe how people look or what they are like. For appearance, you can use words like tall, short, young, and old. For character, you can use words like friendly and quiet.
My aunt is tall and friendly.
When we use two adjectives before a noun, a common order is size/height + age + noun. So we say a tall young man, not a young tall man.
He is a short old man.
Have got
Use have got with I/you/we/they and has got with he/she/it. We use it for possession and family: I have got a sister or She has got blue eyes. In negatives, use haven’t got or hasn’t got.
