Furniture and things at home
In this lesson, you learn words for furniture and appliances in the home. You also learn how to use there is / there are to say what is in a room, and have got to talk about the things a person or home has.
Use there is with one thing and there are with two or more things. We often use them to describe a room: what is in it, and what is not in it.

There is a sofa in the living room.
There are two chairs in the kitchen.
Use have got to say that a person, family, or home possesses something. For one person or thing, use has got. For I, you, we, and they, use have got.

I have got a table in my room.

Common home words in this lesson are: sofa, table, chair, bed, wardrobe, fridge, cooker, washing machine. You can put them together to describe your room in simple sentences.
