LinguaCheckpoint: My Things
In this checkpoint, you review four things: a/an, plurals, this/that/these/those, and possessives. Use these forms to talk about everyday objects and say who they belong to.
1. A / an and plurals
Use a before a singular noun with a consonant sound: a bag, a phone. Use an before a singular noun with a vowel sound: an apple, an umbrella. For more than one thing, use the plural form: usually -s or -es.

This is a watch. These are watches.
2. This, that, these, those
Use this for one thing near you and that for one thing far from you. Use these for things near you and those for things far from you.

What's this? It's a pen.
What are those? They're boxes.
3. My, your, his, her, our, their
Use possessive adjectives before a noun to say who has something: my phone, her bag, their books. The possessive adjective comes before the thing, not after it.

4. Anna's phone: possessive 's and Whose...?
Use 's with a name or person to show possession: Anna's phone, the man's bag. Ask Whose is this? or Whose are these? to ask about possession.
Whose is this book? It's Leo's book.
Whose are those keys? They're our keys.
