You can name food and drink with their articles, say what you like, and order and pay in a café. One rule holds the unit together: the thing you eat, drink, buy, order or pay for is the object and stands in the accusative. Only masculine nouns show it – den, einen, keinen – while die, das and the plural stay as they are. es gibt (there is) takes the accusative too: Heute gibt es keinen Kuchen.

mögen, gern or möchten?
Three ways to talk about liking, and they are not interchangeable. mögen + noun is a general taste: Ich mag Tee – always. Verb + gern is an activity you enjoy: Ich trinke gern Tee. möchten is a wish right now, for example when ordering: Ich möchte einen Tee – this one, today. Only möchten answers the waiter.
