LinguaThe seven days: masculine and written in lowercase
The Spanish week starts on Monday: lunes, martes, miércoles, jueves, viernes, sábado, domingo. All seven are masculine, and unlike English they are written with a small letter. The first five already end in -s, so their plural looks the same; only sábado and domingo add -s: los sábados, los domingos.

El lunes or los lunes: one Monday or every Monday
Spanish uses no preposition with days; the article does the work. El lunes is one particular Monday, the coming or the last one: El lunes hay examen. Los lunes is every Monday: Los lunes no hay clase. After ser, when you simply name today, there is no article at all: Hoy es martes. The words around today are hoy, mañana and ayer.

Dates: el + number + de + month
A date is the day number with the article, then de, then the month: el 3 de mayo, el 25 de diciembre. Months, like days, are lowercase. The month alone takes en: en mayo, en verano. The questions are ¿Qué día es hoy? for the day of the week, ¿Qué fecha es hoy? for the date, and ¿Cuándo es tu cumpleaños? for a birthday: Mi cumpleaños es el 14 de febrero. The four seasons are la primavera, el verano, el otoño and el invierno.

Mi cumpleaños es el 30 de octubre.My birthday is on the 30th of October.
