場所を表す前置詞：in, on, under

場所を表す前置詞

場所を表す前置詞は、物がどこにあるかを言うときに使います。このレッスンでは、in, on, under, next to, behind, in front of, between を学びます。また、Where is ...? と Where are ...? の聞き方も学びます。

前置詞意味例の場所
in～の中にin the box
on～の上に接してon the table
under～の下にunder the chair
next to～の横にnext to the sofa
behind～の後ろにbehind the door
in front of～の前にin front of the TV
between2つのものの間にbetween the beds

In は「中に」という意味です。On は「上に接している」という意味です。Under は「下に」という意味です。

The cat is under the table.猫はテーブルの下にいます。

The books are on the desk.本は机の上にあります。

Next to は、何かの横にあるという意味です。Behind は、後ろにあるという意味です。In front of は、何かの前にある、つまり後ろの反対側にあるという意味です。

The lamp is next to the bed.ランプはベッドの横にあります。

The shoes are behind the door.靴はドアの後ろにあります。

Between は、2人や2つのものの真ん中にあるときに使います。よく、between the chair and the table のように2つのものと一緒に使います。

The plant is between the sofa and the window.植物はソファと窓の間にあります。

質問答えの形例
Where is the lamp?It is + 場所を表す語句。It is on the desk.
Where are the keys?They are + 場所を表す語句。They are in the bag.

1つのものには Where is ...? を使い、2つ以上のものには Where are ...? を使います。答えるときは、1つのものには It is ...、2つ以上のものには They are ... を使います。

「On the desk」は場所を表す表現です。
