Weather is a sentence without a verb: الْجَوُّ (the weather) + an adjective. الْجَوُّ حَارٌّ – it is hot. The question: كَيْفَ الْجَوُّ الْيَوْمَ؟ – what is the weather like today? طَقْس also means weather; it is the word of the forecast.

The four seasons

Temperature: الْحَرَارَةُ + a number + دَرَجَة (degree). Learn two set forms: ٥ دَرَجَاتٍ for 3 to 10, ٣٠ دَرَجَةً for 11 and more. Rain, sun, wind and dust: مَطَر, شَمْس, رِيح, غُبَار – with يُوجَدُ, “there is”.
فِي الرَّبِيعِ يُوجَدُ غُبَارٌ وَرِيحٌ، وَالْحَرَارَةُ ٢٥ دَرَجَةً.In spring there is dust and wind, and it is 25 degrees.
