“We” takes the prefix نَ. “You” and “they” for a group add the ending -ūna: تَدْرُسُونَ, يَدْرُسُونَ. The two forms for groups of women only are given so you can recognise them. To say “not”, put لَا before the verb: لَا أَعْمَلُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ – I don’t work on Friday.
نَحْنُ نَدْرُسُ فِي الْجَامِعَةِ، وَهُمْ يَعْمَلُونَ فِي بَنْكٍ.We study at the university, and they work in a bank.
Two question words: مَاذَا (mādhā) asks “what” before a verb – مَاذَا تَفْعَلُ؟ “what are you doing?”; مَتَى (matā) asks “when” – مَتَى الْعُطْلَةُ؟ “when is the holiday?”.
مَاذَا تَدْرُسُونَ؟ – نَدْرُسُ الْعَرَبِيَّةَ، وَعِنْدَنَا وَاجِبٌ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ.What are you studying? – We study Arabic, and we have homework every day.
