Family words
In this lesson, you learn basic family member words. We use these words to talk about people in our family, like our mother, father, sister, and brother. You also learn how to ask and answer simple questions about brothers and sisters.

This is my sister.
My uncle is my father's brother.
Talking about your family
You can use my to talk about your family: my mother, my brother, my grandparents. You can also use this is to show or introduce one person. For two people, we often say these are.
These are my grandparents.
This is my aunt, Anna.
Family tree talk
A family tree shows people in your family and how they are connected. You can explain family relationships with simple sentences like She is my mother's sister or He is my cousin. This helps you say who each person is.
Tom is my cousin.
Sara is my father's sister.
How many brothers and sisters?
To ask about the number of brothers or sisters, use How many ... have you got? This is a common way to ask about family. In answers, use a number: I've got one brother or I've got two sisters.
