He is, she is, they are
We use subject pronouns to talk about people and things: he, she, it, we, they. With these pronouns, the verb to be changes form: is or are. This lesson helps you say who someone is.
| Subject pronoun | Verb to be | Example |
|---|---|---|
| he | is | He is a teacher. |
| she | is | She is my friend. |
| it | is | It is a bag. |
| we | are | We are students. |
| they | are | They are boys. |
He is for a man or boy. She is for a woman or girl. It is for a thing or animal when we do not say he or she.
He is a student.
She is my teacher.
We means the speaker and other people. They means other people or things in the plural. Use are with we and they.
We are friends.
They are girls.
