LinguaNumbers: units first, all in one word
From 21 to 99 the units come first: siebenundvierzig is 47, not 74. Hundreds and thousands join the same word: dreihundertzwanzig (320). Watch the short forms sechzehn, siebzehn, sechzig, siebzig, the ß in dreißig, and ein instead of eins inside a number (einundzwanzig). Prices: Was kostet …? / Wie viel kostet …?, plural kosten, and zwei Euro fünfzig for 2,50 €.
Die Jacke kostet neunundsiebzig Euro.The jacket costs seventy-nine euros.
The clock: official and everyday

Remember the two traps. halb points to the next hour: halb elf is 10:30. And die Uhr is a point on the clock (um drei Uhr), while die Stunde is a length of time (drei Stunden). A clock time takes um.
Days and dates: um, am, im
um + clock time, am + day or date, im + month or season: um acht, am Freitag, im Mai, im Sommer. Dates use ordinals – erste, dritte, siebte, zwanzigste – with -e after der (der dritte Mai) and -en after am (am dritten Mai).
