Three lessons, and underneath them one single idea: a Russian number is a word, and the word next to it reacts to the number. Read the three tables below in one go – this is everything the unit asked you to hold.

The second table is the one the unit was really about. Look at the last word of the number and nothing else, and the noun behind it is decided – for money and for years alike, and later for percentages too.

The three questions

Two small things travel with them. один and два still care about gender (одна сумка, две сумки), and the age blocks мне, тебе, вам are still taken whole. Everything else in this unit is one number followed by one noun.
Сколько стоит вода? – Пятьдесят рублей.How much is the water? – Fifty roubles.
Мне двадцать четыре года. А вам?I am twenty-four. And you?
