LinguaThe verb that turns the sentence round
In English I like coffee: you are the subject. In Spanish the coffee is the subject and it pleases you: Me gusta el café – literally "to me is-pleasing the coffee". So the verb agrees with the THING, not with you: one thing → gusta, several things → gustan.

Gusta + infinitive: liking to do something
An activity counts as one thing, so it always takes gusta, even if the verb is followed by a plural: Me gusta viajar. Me gusta leer libros. The thing liked keeps its article: me gusta el café, me gustan las películas.
A mí también, a mí no: agreeing and disagreeing

A mí makes the person explicit and is the way to contrast: A mí me gusta el té, pero a Juan le gusta el café. With a name or a noun the same a appears: a Juan, a mi madre, a los niños – always with the pronoun as well.
Me gustan mucho los deportes, pero no me gusta el fútbol.I like sports a lot, but I do not like football.
¿Te gusta cocinar? – Sí, y a mi hermana también.Do you like cooking? – Yes, and so does my sister.
