Plans for a rainy weekend

Es sábado. Ana mira por la ventana y llama a Luis.
–¿Qué tiempo hace en tu barrio?
–Llueve. ¿Adónde vas hoy?
–Quiero ir a la playa, pero el tiempo no ayuda.
–En la costa hace sol –dice Luis–. Lo sé porque mi amigo está allí. Aquí hace frío, pero allí hace calor.
La abuela escucha la conversación.
–Tenéis que llevar agua. Después de caminar vais a tener sed.
–Tienes razón –responde Ana–. Traigo dos botellas. ¿Puedes traer pan, Luis?
–Sí. También pongo fruta en la mochila.
Ana empieza a preparar bocadillos. Luis quiere hacer una ensalada. Los dos prefieren comer fuera, pero no quieren tener hambre por falta de comida.
–Preferimos llevar algo de casa –explica Ana a su abuela.
–Yo sé nadar –dice Ana–. ¿Y tú?
–Sé nadar, pero no conozco esa playa. No quiero entrar solo en el agua.
–No hay que tener miedo de preguntar. Podemos hablar con el socorrista.
La abuela les recuerda otra cosa:
–El fin de semana hay muchos coches. No tenéis que tener prisa.
–Podemos ir en autobús –dice Luis–. Mi amigo va en coche, pero nosotros no necesitamos coche.
Para llegar a la parada, Ana va en metro. Luis vive más cerca y va a pie. Los dos tienen tiempo para desayunar. En la cafetería, Ana quiere un café. No ha dormido bien y empieza a tener sueño.
–Tal vez prefieres dormir un poco en el autobús –dice Luis.
–Sí. ¿A qué hora volvemos?
–Vamos a volver a las seis. Esta noche cenamos con la abuela.
De pronto llega otro mensaje del amigo: ahora también llueve en la playa. Ana y Luis cambian de plan.
–Conozco un museo cerca de aquí –dice Ana–. Podemos ir después de desayunar.
–Buena idea. Quiero entender cómo funcionan sus máquinas antiguas.
–Y luego podemos jugar a las cartas en casa. Siempre hago una foto de la partida para recordar quién gana.
–¿Qué digo a la abuela? –pregunta Luis.
–Dile que vamos al museo. No vamos a tener frío ni a tener calor dentro: hay calefacción y podemos quitarnos la chaqueta.
Luis sonríe. A veces quiere ir a la montaña, donde nieva en invierno, o visitar el campo. Hoy prefiere pensar en un plan sencillo. Salgo de casa con muchas ideas, piensa, y siempre encuentro una nueva.
