Most of the change is in eu: faço, posso, digo, trago – plus short faz, diz, traz. You already know quero, sei, peço, saio. After poder comes an infinitive: Posso ajudar? (Can I help?) Pode repetir?

Two more with an odd eu: dormir – durmo, dormes, dorme – and ouvir – ouço, ouves, ouve. Durmo oito horas. Ouço música no metro. Watch out: vemos is “we see”, vêm is “they come”.
