Checkpoint: Meeting People

One conversation, from hello to goodbye

This unit gave you a complete first meeting. Read it once as a whole – the pieces are easier to remember in the order they actually occur.

StepWhat you say
greetingЗдравствуйте / Привет
your nameМеня зовут ...

The two choices that run through all of it

Every line above has a вы version and a ты version, and you pick once, at the start, and keep it for the whole conversation. Switching halfway is a message in itself.

FormalInformal

The endings that already changed

You have seen three different endings on the same word without being asked to learn a table: Russian marks the job of a word by its ending, and the next units take those endings one at a time.

Hello! My name is Anna. And what is your name?

Pleased to meet you. Where are you from?
