LinguaThe family
Masculine -o, feminine -a (o tio, a tia), with a few pairs of their own (o pai, a mãe; o avô, a avó). A mixed group takes the masculine plural: os pais, os irmãos, os avós, os netos. Children in everyday Portugal: os miúdos.
Whose is it?

The possessive takes the article and agrees with the thing owned. teu/tua for tu, seu/sua for o senhor, a senhora; for “his/her/their”, dele, dela, deles, delas after the noun. ter: tenho, tens, tem, temos, têm.
Os meus sogros têm uma casa no Algarve, ao lado da casa dos pais dela.My parents-in-law have a house in the Algarve, next to her parents’ house.
