His and her: dele, dela
o seu carro can mean “your car” (polite) – so for “his” and “her” Portugal puts dele, dela, deles, delas after the noun, which keeps its article: o carro dele (his car), a casa dela (her house), os filhos deles (their children).
| Made of | Form | Example |
|---|---|---|
| de + ele | dele | o carro dele |
| de + ela | dela | a casa dela |
| de + eles | deles | os filhos deles |
| de + elas | delas | a mãe delas |
Ana’s, Pedro’s: de + name
Portuguese has no ’s. The owner comes after de, and since names take the article in Portugal, de joins it: o livro do Pedro, a mala da Maria, a casa dos avós.

|---|---|---|
| de + o | do | o livro do Pedro |
| de + a | da | a mala da Maria |
| de + os | dos | a casa dos avós |
| de + as | das | o carro das tias |

| Person | Form |
