Sopra, sotto, accanto: where things are

Sopra, sotto, accanto: saying where things are

Sopra, sotto, dentro, dietro go straight before the noun with its article: sotto il tavolo, dentro l’armadio. Fuori usually stands alone: il cane è fuori. Accanto a, di fronte a, vicino a and in mezzo a end in a, and that a joins the article as you learned in the city unit: accanto al letto, accanto alla finestra, di fronte all’armadio. Tra (or fra – both are correct) puts something between two things: tra il letto e la porta.
