Three lessons, two rooms. In the first room somebody brings you food and you have to choose politely; in the second you carry it out yourself and have to ask what it costs. Between them they cover most of what a beginner actually does with a language abroad.

The shop half of the unit
A shop is quieter: two questions do the work, and both of them expect a very short answer. Notice that the verb changes when the thing you ask about is plural, and that the stock question leaves the product in its dictionary form.

The two endings that hold the whole unit together
One ending names the thing you want and the other names the substance you are buying by weight. They differ by a single letter on most words, and the difference is the whole of the grammar in these three lessons. Read the two columns aloud until the pair feels like one word each.
