At the counter: Eu quero … (direct), Eu queria … (polite) or Me vê … (relaxed). At the table: Pra mim, … and, to ask a favour, Você poderia …? + infinitive. Always with por favor. Querer: quero, quer, queremos, querem.

Meals and paying
o café da manhã, o almoço (the main meal: arroz, feijão, carne, salada) and o jantar. Food in general has no article: Não como carne. The dish in front of you does: O frango está gostoso. At the end: A conta, por favor. You pay no cartão, em dinheiro or no pix, and with cash you get o troco.
Na lanchonete, a gente almoça um prato feito e paga no pix.At the snack bar we have a set lunch and pay by pix.
