Days, months and dates

Lunedì, martedì…: the days of the week

The Italian week starts on Monday, and the days are written with a small letter. The first five end in -dì with an accent: lunedì, martedì, mercoledì, giovedì, venerdì; then come sabato and domenica. The article changes the meaning: Lunedì comincio is “I start (this) Monday”, while Il lunedì lavoro is “I work on Mondays”, every week. All days are masculine except la domenica.
