In the bedroom: a cama and o armário (the wardrobe, also a kitchen cupboard). In the living room: o sofá, a estante with books and a cadeira next to a mesa. In the kitchen: a geladeira (fridge) and o fogão (the stove). Brazilians say geladeira, not refrigerador, in everyday speech.
Na cozinha tem uma geladeira nova e um fogão velho.In the kitchen there’s a new fridge and an old stove.

Most of these end in de, and de merges with the article: de + o = do, de + a = da, de + os = dos, de + as = das. Em cima da geladeira, embaixo dos livros. Entre has no de and never merges: entre a mesa e o sofá. For things that move use estar; for a fixed place, ficar: O celular está no sofá. / A cozinha fica ao lado da sala.
