Most Portuguese verbs end in -ar, and they all work the same way: drop -ar and add the ending of the person. trabalhar → trabalho, trabalha, trabalhamos, trabalham; estudar → estudo, estuda, estudamos, estudam. The ending already says who acts, so the pronoun eu or nós is often dropped: Falo português = Eu falo português.

A gente: the everyday “we”
In everyday Brazilian speech a gente is the usual way to say “we”. It means nós, but the verb takes the ele/ela form: a gente fala = nós falamos, a gente mora = nós moramos. Nós is just as correct and common in writing. The mix a gente falamos is heard, but it is not the standard form.
No domingo, a gente almoça na casa da avó.On Sundays we have lunch at Grandma’s.
How often: sempre, às vezes, nunca
sempre (always) and nunca (never) usually stand right before the verb: Ela sempre chega cedo. Ele nunca cozinha. Nunca needs no não – it is negative by itself. às vezes (sometimes) and todo dia (every day) go at the start or at the end: Às vezes estudo à noite. Trabalho todo dia.
